In his memorandum book, Philip Henslowe records a number of bonds between himself and numerous players of the Admiral's Men. The bonds indicate that the players must perform plays at the Rose for a period of two years under fixed conditions, and that the penalty for defaulting on the bond would be 'forti powndes.'
