Abstract

The Lord Chamberlain charges William Beeston and his company with having performed a new play without license, and with having disregarded a command to forbear playing, 'to the prejudice of his majesty's service and in contempt of the Office of the Revels.' They are ordered to cease playing entirely until restored to their former liberty.
