Abstract

The Earl of Essex petitions the Stationers' Company on behalf of the King's Men to prevent their plays from being published without the company's consent. He notes that until now the Lord Chamberlain's office has exerted its authority to prevent the plays being published. The petition includes a list of some fifty plays.
