A letter to Joseph Mead reports that the Duke of Buckingham performed in a masque for the King and Queen at York House. Mead writes, '[F]irst comes forth the duke, after him Envy, with divers open-mouthed dogs' heads, representing the people's barking; next came Fame; then Truth, &c.' See Event 6467 for earlier rumours of the planned masque.
