Abstract

In his 'Pierce Penniless his Supplication to the Devil,' Thomas Nashe praises the acting of Edward Alleyn. He promises that if he ever writes in Latin, he will make Richard Tarlton, Edward Alleyn, William Knell, and John Bentley famous in France, Spain and Italy, and will list every part they played and record 'the manner of their habites and attyre.'
