Notes
Chambers (ES, vol 4, p 56) argues that Shakespeare's 'Comedy of Errors' was performed by the Chamberlain's Men for the Gentlemen of the Inner Temple, 28 December 1594. The Treasurer of the Chamber's record of a performance by the company at Whitehall on the same night must therefore be a "slip." Chambers suggests instead that the Chamberlain's Men were at court along with the Admiral's Men on the 27th.
