Henslowe writes that he has been to see 'mr Pope' to discuss renewing the lease on the playhouse. Pope showed Henslowe an agreement between himself and the parish to pay a rent of £20 per year, and to 'bestowe A hunderd marckes vpon billdinge'. Henslowe responded that he would rather 'pulledowne the playehowse' than agree to such terms, to which Pope agreed.
