A warrant dated 20 January, 1576/7, provides evidence the Earl of Warwick's Men played at court during the 1576 Christmas season. They receive £6 13s 4d for the performance, and a further £10 'by waie of her majesties especiall reward,' for a total of £16 13s 4d. The Revels Accounts record that the play was 'The Paynters Daughter', performed at Hampton Court, 'in S. Stevens daie at night.'
