Sir John Poley, son of the woman who had originally leased the Boar's Head property to Oliver Woodliffe, converted the property into a tenement housing estate. A contract dated 23 June 1618 records that the 'messuage or tenement' known as the Boar's Head has been divided into 'several tenements or cottages.'
