Viewing Event Record: The Privy Council considers shutting down the Blackfriars as a means of reducing traffic in the area

Abstract

On 9 October 1633, the Privy Council decides that, given the persistent problems over traffic generated by the playhouse in the Blackfriars precinct, they should form a committee to look into the possibility of buying the property from the players, who would then be able to relocate to another area.
